My first impression on arrival was that it was packaged just as professionally as the more expensive, more established competitors

Wow! I'm getting back on planes after a long absence. I was amazed at how advanced and affordable this device has become. My first impression upon arrival was that it was packaged just as professionally as its more expensive, more established competitors. For half the price of a comparable flyer in the park I wasn't expecting that. More importantly, the contents were in perfect condition, nothing broken or lost. I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 batteries and 3 extra props! Of course, as others have pointed out, the "instructions" are beyond silly, in fact, quite comical. BUT - the picture goes with it, but there's really nothing left to do but charge the batteries, put on the wheels if you want, screw on the fenders. Very simple: After I had charged the batteries in 45 minutes, I went on the first flight to the schoolyard. The flight surfaces were well trimmed from the start, after a final quick check (check that the elevator/rudder direction is correct when pushing the joysticks left/right, up/down) it was ready for manual launch. Full throttle, hard throw, and it goes up and up. 1/2 throttle at about 50 feet so I could slow it down and undercut it a bit. Pretty good - just had to click the left rudder a couple of times and raise the elevator, after that it flew almost hands-free. Climbed (slowly - it's a trainer, after all) to 100 feet, lowered my nose to pick up speed and tried to loop. There wasn't enough inertia, it just stopped and turned left, but recovered perfectly. Then there was a quick throw - no dice, not enough power. Flying slowly at 1/4 power was fun. This thing slows down to a fast run. Lightning. next landing. Carried some energy through the torch. It started raining but I was airborne for more than 8 minutes and there was no sign of a low battery! I'm really glad I found this plane to get my feet wet again and look forward to building something cool to fly this winter. I cannot recommend this item enough! BENEFITS - Excellent value for money, less than just a petrol engine for a larger trainer aircraft. Very good quality radio with some impressive digital display capabilities. Extra battery, long flight time. Integrated servos, receiver and speed controller on one IC board = uncomplicated setup. Everything is made for you! CON - poor user manual - the company should have tried to find a fluent English speaker to write it better. The chassis is flimsy - not a bad design actually, it just needs to be made light. He didn't walk very straight. IMO - just don't use it if you don't want to, you don't really need it. Just start manually. UPDATE - 10/2/17 I've done 33 flights on this plane and it's still working great. The batteries still give me 20 minutes or more of flight time. I found this thing will fly upside down! I've crashed three times, including in Lake Michigan. And it goes on! The thing is practically indestructible! I've upgraded to bigger and more complex electric planes, but I still keep this one in my car to fly anywhere. It's fun to fly with birds, to get curious and to test. I almost lost it on a hot day in the intense heat over the tennis court. When idling, it just takes more and more power. I can fly until it's almost out of sight and achieve a glide time of over 1.5 minutes.
