I'm new to gel polish. The first time I tried just dipping my fingers in the remover. Of course, my skin wasn't very happy and, being a pig, got dirty too. I am very happy with this purchase. The kit has everything you need to remove the old gel polish except for the acetone itself. At first I tried doing all 10 fingers at once (ha!). I'm not as coordinated as I already knew, but somehow went and did it anyway. I find it much easier to do it one hand at a time. The third time is nice, isn't it? The set comes with lots of cotton patterns (thanks!) but I didn't have to use more than one pattern per nail at a time so I think that's a lot. This set stays forever! Also included are scratching tools, a nail brush and an emery board. There's also a handy container for the removal liquid, which I haven't used yet. It seems to work by opening the lid and depressing the tip (with the collar around it) to dispense liquid. I believe this gives more control over the liquid than squeezing the sides of the container to extract the remover or simply pouring it out of the mark remover bottle. Anyway much safer. I will use it next time. The retaining clips are quite pink and not uncomfortable. They're easy to control (except with both hands at once! But then again, a bum). However, they are the same size. They fit all of my toes except the big big toes. I assume they will still work as long as they keep the swab on the nail. Hopefully. I'm excited for my legs to see the light of day and I want them to look their best! This is a really great complete kit that makes the gel experience so much more enjoyable for a beginner like me.
