Update: May 12, 2021 Used With Freewell 72-77mm Step Up Ring. First off, that particular Freewell boost ring sucks. It doesn't last. Have a few of these and they all come off very easily. I had to send some back. There are other Freewell boost rings and they are fine so this is just that particular model. For $30 each, stop at Breakthrough or Lucid's for $15; both are brass. Well, this VND is fine with performance, but it was on a 72-77mm boost ring and fell on soft ground. cracks. Well if it were on a concrete or even wood or tile floor I would understand. The floor was soft, like in gyms. So, the perfect angle, hoes? Maybe, but the combination of the two plus the lens cap issue just tells me the quality isn't great. I've already bought a few Freewell Boost rings and even for 6-9 dong. Should have listened to everyone else and stuck with Peter McKay. No more Freewell stuff for me. Too risky to risk your gear. Experience is a great teacher. Update: February 24, 2020 It's only been over a month since I first removed the lens cap. The magnet has come loose from the lid. I didn't think about it too much and figured I might stick it back on if I get the chance. I contacted support to see what glue they recommend and they responded very quickly even though it was a weekend. I bought glue and found I had to remove the old glue that had spread sparsely. Took out the dremel to clean the surfaces and then glued the magnet back onto the lid. It was necessary to remove excess glue residue and use the dremel again. It's not pretty as most of the black paint has been peeled off, but it does the job. I realized that too much effort had been put into something that I didn't think should have been a problem. Dock a star for this. VND is still great. Just don't drop the lens cap. 4 stars Original review: January 8, 2020 Great purchase, especially as I reviewed Peter McKee's Polar Pro VND for more than double the price! I've used and own various fixed ND/VND's and they all have issues (color changing) but this is definitely a solid performer. Hard stops prevent the X pattern from appearing, which is very handy, especially if you have footage with other VNDs that you didn't shoot. I don't understand that the X-pattern was there until filming was over. Sometimes it's very weak but so disappointing. No longer! In general I like the quality and appreciate the lifetime warranty.
