Review on πŸ’½ WD 2TB Elements Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0, PC/Mac/PS4/Xbox Compatible - WDBU6Y0020BBK-WESN by Carol Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A fighter that has stood the test of time.

Enough freebies, it's time to write serious technical reviews. Today we will talk about an external hard drive, colloquially "hard", 2TB with USB 3.0 interface. The hard form factor is 2.5", it looks brutal, you can say in admin way: Here we see the fundamental difference between USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 (for those who do not know how they differ purely visually): Let's go further, let's move on to the sweet - to the tests. The first will be a test for the "health" of our ward - Cristal Disk Info: Everything is fine with health, despite the fact that the number of inclusions and the total life time are quite decent - 789 inclusions and 3068 hours of operation. Next, let's check the speed qualities for both interfaces (USB 2.0 and USB 3.0) using the Cristal Disk Mark utility: Especially for clarity, I combine two screenshots, from which you can see a 3-fold superiority of USB 3.0 over USB 2.0 in reading, and more than 4-fold in writing. Now let's see what happens in real life, and not in tests, first read speeds again, comparing USB 2.0 and USB 3.0: Perhaps everything is not very clearly visible on the screenshot, I’ll tell you that reality even surpasses the tests - USB2 Vread = 31.1Mb/s, and USB3 Vread = 99.6Mb/s! And the last test is the real write speed in both interfaces: Just in case, I'll write again if the results are hard to see: Vwrite USB2=22.9Mb/s and Vwrite USB3=85.7Mb/s! As you can see from the tests, there is simply nothing to complain about! Another test for HddScan sector-by-sector access time: I will say right away that I left such a test overnight, because in order to go through 2TB of our hard drive sector-by-sector, a very large time interval is needed - I don’t even dare to say how much. As a result, we see that for such huge volumes, the number of sectors with a minimum access time ( Well, it remains to look at the real capacity of our harddrive: Again we see the usual picture - 1.81, instead of 2TB, i.e., in fact, we bought 10% less than stated, and the whole thing, again, is in the notorious marketing, when we are provided with information about the real disk capacity, not terabytes, but in bytes! We look in bytes, and we make sure that there are really about 2 trillion of them: To summarize: this hard drive has passed all tests for a solid 5-ku, taking into account, among other things, its relative "staleness". to Yandex. In the market, the price of such a disc fluctuates around 5 thousand rubles. I will strictly recommend, I also put a solid 5-ku, and if anyone has their own complaints about this disk, then write comments, and in what place the disk did not perform well, but I personally have no questions about it.
