I didn't really need running lights and blinkers so I just connected them for flashlights and it's perfect. Now I can see our 9 month old getting in and out of the trunk at night. Edit: Update 2 years old, one of the wires broke near the lantern itself and it stopped working. I had to cut the rubber and splice the wire to get it working again. The rubber also deteriorated to the point where I could pull it off with my hand. The best they could do is wire insulation to cover the 4 small wires this light comes from instead of just having 4 small wires that aren't strong enough for under the car. To fix this you can use silicone or heat shrink tubing to stiffen the cable entry points in the LED strips.
