RTA. some assembly required

Cannot give half a star, so rounded. It's better than the average RTA, but still chipboard. Read the fun guide. actual pictogram. Then change things up a bit to make it easier to assemble. Assemble the crate without the cross brace/hanger on the back. DO NOT fully tighten, but leave about 1/8" of the silver Phillips screws sticking out. Then lay the unit FACE DOWN on a flat surface. Bottom works. Insert the left and right back (cardboard) panels into the slots on the left and right sides. I used a rubber mallet and one of the small shelves that came with the machine to gently tap all of the grooves, making them 'square'. Insert the middle back panel. tight, but not tight. NOW place the cross brace/hanger under the top of the backrest. Tighten this part LONG, but not FIRMLY. Tighten ALL the silver screws as you would tighten the nuts on the bar. Change. DO NOT OVERTORQUE. It is finally a particle board. I used a SMALL drill to make pilot holes for the furniture knobs to hold the backing in place. Pilot ONLY the back board so that s you still have to hammer them in. Place the buttons at least 4 inches from the top of the device. otherwise they interfere with the hanger. The rest is easy. Attach the wall part of the hanger to the SUPPORTS in the wall. Make sure you hit the studs in the middle. Drill small pilot holes in the chipboard again, this time in the drywall AND the studs, this will make the task easier. The "Face" boards are attached with "dowels". The shelves use metal shelf pins. Pros: Good quality chipboard. GOOD veneer on all front surfaces. ALL parts included. The presence of a hanger as part of the DESIGN not only makes it easier to hang, but also adds strength to the device and helps to align it. . The design uses the basic "beam" box design to make the box/frame without relying on back plates to add strength. (I'm considering removing them entirely as the panels (cardboard) are matte black, as is the wall (home theater) behind the unit.) CONS: I HATE chipboard. Furniture grade plywood is best. specifically for this machine. This is chipboard. I managed to split one of the posts when trying to square the block (do not tighten until the back panels are in place). Luckily, a little wood glue will fix things, but loosen the screw that caused the gap. Time will tell if the shelves hold up. chipboard again. Although a single disc with a sleeve weighs a little, they are similar to a paper box in that they fold up. The back panels wobble even after pinning. Luckily, they're not part of the structure, as is often the case with cheaper RTAs. I RECOMMEND this for others over most RTAs as the price WAS 109, bought it when it hit 90 and I see it's 81 now. I looked at another device that was closer to $200 in stores.
