Review on πŸ”Œ Industrial Electrical Cat5E Vertical Cable by Aaron Urena

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems to be a good product but the latest batch is a bit different from the old batch.

Good quality. I've installed this "same" cable (wrapped around the carrier cable for physical support) on outdoor overhead power lines for three to four years with no problems (except for a segment of the cable that was damaged by lightning). I recently bought another 1000 feet. Box with this presumably same cable, and it's only been installed for about a month (so far with no known problems). However, I did notice some subtle differences in the new cable box compared to the old one: 1. The colored stripe of the striped conductor in each twisted pair is very thin and dull, making it difficult to identify/distinguish them compared to the older batch. 2. The cable's jacket differs from the old batch: It's shinier, more flexible, and has a "loose" feel. The main thought here is whether the shell material has a different composition, leading to uncertainty as to how it will hold up to UV and weather exposure over time (compared to the older batch). I'm also concerned that the relative looseness and flexibility of the jacket could cause the wires it contains to "shift" as the cable moves, affecting signal performance.3. Also, the shell material appears to be stiffer than the old batch, probably making it more abrasion resistant, but also more difficult to remove (for embedding).4. The color of the deck labels (including length markings) rubs off easily (while the color of the old batch didn't rub off at all). In terms of installation, the ink erasure was primarily due to the loss or distortion of length markings. Let's hope the new party holds up and works the same as the old party.
