The ammonia/chemical odor was strong and acrid from the masks---increased after several minutes of wear. I tried washing all three in the pack (twice) following the pack instructions and the smell was still there. I will not use these masks and do not recommend them. It looks beautiful and the thickness was what I was looking for but I couldn't get over the intense smell. I threw them away. A complete waste of money. Made in India and the packaging said the masks had an antimicrobial layer which may have caused the intense smell.
