Review on 🐢 Cool Your Canine Companion with the HyperKewl Evaporative Cooling Dog Coat by Denise Diaz

Bad design - won't stay in place - sewn into a new design

I have a 100lb Doberman Pinscher and bought the recommended size XL. This is the second cool vest/coat I've tried on for him. The first was Cool Pup Dog. This one picked up every weed and sticker in sight and didn't stay cool. While this stays cool for a long time and the stickers don't stick to the cooling fabric, I did find the piping around the center barley fitting when fully loosened and placed too far back - almost on his pee. When I then wet him and took him for a walk, he fell completely on his side within the first 5 minutes. I've tried changing its position and tightening the spring element, but to no avail. I had to take it off and bring it back to the car. i give it back It gets 2 stars because it's really cool. UPDATE 6/25/14 Well after re-reading the reviews of all the other cool dog vests I left this one, took it apart and sewed it into a working design. 3 factors were decisive for me: 1) it stays cool for a very long time, easily 5 hours or more without rewetting at 100 degrees. My dog is black and she is very hot. So he must have a vest that stays cool, otherwise it's useless. 2) Weeds and stickers will not stick to the cooling cloth. I walk my dog off-leash on bridle paths in scruffy parks and on private property as he walks through weeds and stickers. It's almost impossible to remove them manually, so a vest that collects stickers is useless as well. And 3) I can sew. Yes, it took some time to take it apart without tearing the cooling fabric and come up with a design that actually works. Now Zach can run and say his heart is content with weed and stickers, the vest stays in place, he stays calm and the stickers fall off instantly. Note: I had to completely remove the stretch fabric on the front of the vest due to the stickers sticking to it. But no big deal, it wasn't necessary. With my changes I would give 5 stars. Hope that helps. 3-11-16 As requested, I'm attaching photos of the redesign of my vest. The instructions are as follows: 1. The main part of the vest does not change. See Fig. 1.2. Remove the strap, garter, and neck extensions, including the elastic. I didn't fall into the pressure vest sections. I have no pictures of it.3. Sew one of the two neck extensions on either side of the body and make a hole for the dog's head. The opening for the head is fixed, but can be enlarged if necessary by removing the stretch fabric. My dog didn't need a bigger head hole. See Fig. 2.4. Fold one of the short sides of the garter and sew it to the inset part of the neckline. This will be the new chest piece of the vest. See Fig. 2.5. Attach 2-1 inch plastic zippers to each side of the chest and body of the vest using the ones provided with the vest and straps. See Figures 2, 3 and 4.6. Put it on your dog and adjust the buckle straps. to center the chest. See photos 5 and 6.6-20-17. My dog is still wearing the newly designed Kewl vest and it still works for him. Since many of you have asked IO, I am posting some photos of the redesigned vest. (PS ZAK didn't want to be photographed. HA!) Hope this helps.
