After buying a car wash soap gun and reducing my wash time by 50%, I was disappointed with how long it took to dry the car and I couldn't find it the right fabric for the car. So I decided to "throw in the towel" and buy a dryer. I also decided to save a few bucks and get it through Open Box. The first came without hoses and nozzles. The second was in use but everything was in the box. First, not so long ago, open box deals were profitable because it was an item that was "damaged" in stock, usually a box. Currently the item has probably been used and returned for a really good reason. At least in my experience. This weapon is no exception. After sitting in the garage for several weeks I finally applied it and was immediately disappointed. This dryer is NOT better than using a towel, it's just different. It is definitely NOT faster, but increases the drying time by at least 20-30%. This increase in time is due to the need to develop a technique so that you don't go over the same area repeatedly because you're just going to wet it again and try to dry another area and the gun is NOT as powerful as it is seems the description. Despite what the other reviews say, I don't find it much more powerful than the blower. Perhaps because the hose is so long, when the air enters the nozzle, it's really concentrated, but not as powerful as needed for quick drying. How about heated air? Well it comes and goes. If you have a Mini, Versa or maybe a Soul, the air can stay hot for the 30 minutes it takes to dry a small car. Honda Accord? No, it gets warm, then warm, then cold, then warm, then mostly cold for the 45+ minutes it takes you pacing up and down the car to dry it completely. On the other hand, because the water seems to come out of nowhere. The weapon stays upright. Yes, yes, and the hose is long, 30 feet, so you don't have to move the gun more than once to go around an average sedan. Can I recommend this to someone who says I'm looking for a faster way? dry my car? No, no, I wouldn't. I repeat, this device is NOT faster, it's just different. And it requires a technique you may never master, and it's a hassle to dry a few inches of your car at a time and then dry it again while blowing water over the same area. Who would I recommend this to? Me. A person who is on their second and just can't help but bother to give it back. He does some things well. It falls into the crevices that always drip water after you remove the suede. It dried my rubber floor mats really well - sure, it took twice as long as using a towel, but they were dead dry. I hope you believe this review. If you're on the fence, trust me when I say it's not going to make you happy. This will leave you frustrated and wondering why you didn't listen to this review. This device is a good start, but it takes a lot more power, a lot more, to be an effective drying tool and outperform a hand/towel in less time. Why did I give 3 stars? Well I struggled between 2 and 3. If there was a 2.5 option I would give it that rating. 3 stars because it works, but not in the way a lot of people think it would, which is why I'm sure so many people are returning it. For $300 I would suggest you spend your money better buying your child that "nonsensical toy or toy they keep asking for". The last time it will NOT make you happy!
