I ordered this as an upgrade to the standard CDI in one of my scooters. I couldn't start the scooter after switching to the new CDI, thinking maybe it was a bad connection or cable, but after a few tests that ruled out any other possibility I had to put the original one back on. It immediately caught fire. Confirmation of a defective CDI. For the record, I know the difference between AC and DC CDI, ordered and received the correct part for my scooter, only it's broken. I ordered it a few weeks ago and to date have not been able to ship it and didn't realize it was broken until the return window closed so I'm SOL. Next time I will order from another manufacturer and test it immediately so that I don't end up without money.
