Works exactly as described - plugged a cable (USBC) into my little USB charger and tried it! It alternates off - low - medium - high - medium - low (then repeats from off). That surprised me a little. I think I use the middle one. Even after about 90 minutes my small charger (not at full power to begin with) was still showing 4 lights so the LED uses minimal power. I checked the switch and connector area after turning it off and there was minimal heat as well. It takes a little time to really get used to, as with backlighting it's sometimes difficult to tell exactly what color you're using. All you can really tell is whether it's dark or light, but it's so easy to view stuck practices or missed spots. I really wanted that. Most of the tools aren't what I really need, but they are useful, especially the spatula tool for straightening the drill as I can't FIND the one I had! I could have used a bigger one, but since I'm using it flat and unclipped, it works great for brightening up the area I'm working on. With very few special cases, ALL my projects are larger than a light base, so a flat surface works best anyway! I run my finger over what I've done (after pressing) to find those that are a little loose or not lying flat (addicted to neighbors). It's a bit harder to spot and fix just along that ridge. Just a small fix in my project layout to work around this. In general - I'm happy!
