My mistake was not ordering this $4.95 power supply at the same time as my original weather radio order. Because charging in sunlight, electric light or a USB connected to a computer does not provide enough power for outdoor use without having to turn the crank. The best advice is to KEEP IT PLUGED IN AT HOME ALL THE TIME, then you can use it outdoors for a long time without charging it. This certainly extends battery life and is worth the cost of the adapter and S/H charging in and of itself. Dave Shapiro Austin, Texas
