I have 2 mixed poodles and they have been having loose stools lately so I have tried giving them probiotics. It didn't help. So I tried giving them 1 tbsp with every meal and now they are SUPER regular bowel movements and their poop is hardened. I don't even have to take them for a walk to poop! You just go to the yard. Trust me, these two rarely pooped in the backyard until I started giving them pumpkin. I have a plastic dog can lid that I like to use to keep it fresh (at least I like to think so!). None of my cans were dented. **TIP** I chose to give my dogs 1/2 tablespoon since they weigh 15-20 pounds. Since I can't use the whole jar in 3 days as recommended on the jar, I used 1/2 tablespoon to scoop little mounds onto a small baking sheet, freeze them in the freezer, and then freeze the frozen balls to deliver. Ziplock bag for freezer storage. **UPDATE 4/25/12** My sensitive stomach dog is soft again despite giving him pumpkin with every meal. So now I've added 2 tablespoons of rice and his poop has solidified. I will continue to experiment with different ratios of rice and pumpkin mixed into his dog food until I find the perfect result. hahaha
