I use them as a popcorn warmer. The warmer bulb is held in a rather tight housing. The lamp gets quite hot, and BEFORE I found these lamps (Westinghouse 03484) I had a terrible time where the base was "stuck" to the socket and the glass part of the bulb came loose from the base when I tried , pulling that burned out lightbulb out of the popcorn. After that, the base remains in the cartridge and the glass part of the bulb is in your hand. You then have to disassemble the hardware and use pliers to try and pry the broken base out of the socket! PROBLEM SOLVED with Westinghouse 03484! Troubleshooting 1) The base of the lamp is made from BRASS and not the cheaper aluminum we see so often these days, so 2) the brass base is glued to the glass part of the lamp with a much stronger adhesive and then 3) the entire base is Coated with a transparent non-stick substance similar to Teflon® so it won't stick to the nest! Removing a blown bulb is now a simple unscrew and replace. Now for an extra BONUS! These lamps last about twice as long as the ones I've used. Superior design features and high quality materials make the lamp superior.
