This is a fantastic product for quick proof of concept prototyping. I have not used this for CNC applications. This was my first experience with an Arduino. The documentation is available online. Gathering documentation takes more time than setting up and running. The CNC Shield comes with all the jumpers needed to set the stepping resolution. I'm using step mode so I don't need them. Programming is done in standard C, and the Arduino IDE includes many examples. I don't need libraries, but there are many libraries available. I don't know if they are well documented. Email customer support responds (<24 hours) but I found I had resolved my own questions before they responded. Make sure you fully understand how to set the motor winding currents before applying power to the CNC Shield motor power input. Bottom line, I'll definitely buy them when the need arises. I mainly do prototypes and they are very inexpensive and easy to use. Once programmed, they can be powered without a PC using a 9VDC battery and barrel connector available elsewhere at Revain. Very good!
