Review on 🔧 OWC Hard Drive Installation Kit for Lower Drive Bay of 2011-2012 Mac Mini by Marcus Freeman

I almost went with the more expensive iFixit kit but it was perfect for my 2011 Mac Mini. The plug and parts are excellent quality, I inspected mine carefully so I didn't waste time finding it defective after installation. As for the installation, it wasn't difficult at all. I'm pretty daring with electronics but by no means an expert and it was relatively easy for me. Be sure to order some spudger sticks with this set if you don't already have them. A few installation tips: 1. Be very careful with the IR port. It's very fragile, I recommend using a sharp spatula to gently pry it open from the back (where the wires connect). This is the only "surgical" part of the installation in my opinion.2. The metal grille holding the Wi-Fi antenna can be a real annoyance to come back to. I recommend putting a screw in the top hard drive and then reattaching the grill. I found it to be more difficult to tighten and then screw on. It will take some time to return to its place.3. Don't do what I did, assemble it and forget to reattach one of the plastic baffles. Because of this, I had to install the grille twice! No problem if you follow the instructions.4. Before installing, make sure your hard drive is working and power it on before putting the cover back on the mini to make sure the fans are working. Maybe you could go a step further and make sure everything works before collecting, but I like to live dangerously. Mostly obvious things, but I learned this and thought it might help others. All in all a great set and totally worth the upgrade!
