Review on WAVLINK Thunderbolt DisplayPort Charging Ethernet by Mahmut Ojeda

Fantastic docking station for the new 2019 16 " MacBook Pro

I'm using a new 2019 16" Macbook Pro (and I love it). I don't have 4K monitors. I am using two old DELL U2412M monitors. They are HD only and have inputs for DVI-D, VGA and DP. They do NOT have HDMI inputs so this saves me a lot of docking stations as almost all use HDMI as the main monitor output. This WAVLINK dock has DP as the main video output (hooray!). an additional Thunderbolt 3 output port to which I connected the USB-C to DP adapter for my second monitor. Both monitors can work in extended mode without mirroring. So with the Macbook's built-in display, I have 3 screens showing different content. I've read a lot of feedback that you can't run 2 external monitors in extended mode on a Macbook unless you control each of them via a separate Thunderbolt 3 port on the Macbook, and that the docking station can't do this due to software limitations macOS. And I've found this to be true when using a cheaper USB-C dock. But you get what you paid for. I've already returned a few USB-C docking stations that didn't do the job. I've also read that you have to use a Thunderbolt 3 dock with a Macbook if you expect it to work well, and that seems to be true. So if you spend $2000-$3000 on a Macbook, don't skimp on the dock, spend $200 on this dock, you will be satisfied with it. The WAVLINK dock also has its own 180W power adapter so it can charge my Macbook. Everything in this dock just works. I've only been using it for a week and no problems so far. If he starts misbehaving I will update this review. BENEFITS: 180W power adapter for charging a Macbook and powering external peripherals. A separate 28" Thunderbolt 3 cable (long enough) to connect the dock to your Macbook. Possibility to connect at least 2 monitors in extended mode. ModeEverything works CONS: Only 1 USB 3 port on the front (wish there were more, but that's okay). It has 3 on the back, but the way I've positioned the dock on my desk makes it a bit difficult to access the back, but still not a big deal) Conclusion: I would give this dock 6 stars, if I could.
