Short answer: I am very happy with the purchase of this ankle brace. It's easy to use and comfortable and seems to have really helped my ankle in just a few weeks of use. Long answer: As the thread says, I am not and did not purchase for a 15 year old athlete. I'm an overweight late boomer with a weak ankle. I guess I sprained it at one point and it never healed. He kept getting to the point where it hurt, but walking the dog or any distance was really uncomfortable. The angle of the sidewalk or sidewalk caused my right ankle to hurt after just a block or two. I looked at ankle wraps without knowing anything about them and found everything from something more than an ace wrap to what looked like a ski boot. I felt like I needed support and stiffness, my pain coming from the outward rotation of my ankle. Let's go back to 15-year-old volleyball players for a moment; I figured these superstars needed to keep playing or at least need some help rebuilding. It certainly can't use something that looks vaguely like a ski boot. This suggested that support was a need and not a rigidity. Then, with the lighter braces, we saw more differences in price and quality than in use and function. However, this has actually become the purchase price, and this is where the comments come in again. There was no mention of any discomfort, chafing or anything in the comments on this item, which gave me the confidence to spend a whopping $23 (I think). I am very satisfied with this ankle brace! I was so impressed that I decided to wait a week and wash before commenting. That was 2 weeks and 3 washes ago. I've been wearing this brace almost every day since I got it and my pain was greatly reduced the first time I used it. Now, three weeks later, I can say that my ankle is doing much better than before. Is it healing or just needs rest I don't know but it was really great to be able to walk more comfortably. Here are some points. * Fits easily with no bumps, creases and roughness. * It supports well without being tight. * Set the top and bottom elastics tight but not tight, the last two elastics will ensure a snug fit. * Suitable for regular sized socks. * After a week of my normal daily use I didn't feel disgusted! I was impressed and surprised. * If you take it off and there are stains on your skin, it's probably too tight. In fact, it is convenient. * The velcro used is of good quality, holds up well but is not thick so it lays flat.
