Seals great but stays in place forever

I bought this to seal the rear window on my Ram 1500 which has been a common problem due to leaks in that area seems. It works great apart from the fact that it's a living gum and never hardens. It stays sticky and sticky and all sorts of dirt sticks to it. I ended up covering it with a thin layer of black silicone sealant. If I had to do it all over again I would use the standard urethane window sealant they use to install windshields. It's harder to use, but it heals. Do not use silicone sealant that you buy at a car dealership as it will peel off over time. Also seal the edges of the window around the perimeter and the edge of the cabin around the perimeter, leaving the crack open where you will apply the sealant. If you use this or urethane sealant, it's a mess. I smeared everything around the window and ran my finger over it with a rubber glove to smooth it out. After I was done I removed the tape and I had a perfect seal all over the window and it no longer leaks. I also sealed my top brake light on top of the cab just to be sure.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
