UPDATE: DIED IN ABOUT THREE WEEKS, WORKED 0K FOR THREE WEEKS, THEN, ONE DAY, JUST DIE. NOTHING, EVERYTHING TRIED. HE JUST GUGGLED WITHOUT FOG AND THEN DIED COMPLETELY. Luckily I bought it from Amazon who took care of me completely. DO NOT BUY. QUALITY IS TERRIBLE. MY ORIGINAL RATING 3 STARS IS NEXT: This is advertised for use in MEDIUM SIZED rooms. I use this in a 265 square foot room. The HIGHEST humidity I can achieve with a steam heater in my room in winter is 42%. This is at the highest level. In addition, you can forget about the entitlement to 65-hour tank filling. I NEVER get 24 hours. , from top to bottom, into the sink to fill it. My old one had a domed top and you had to hold it to fill it, which isn't easy for a tank that holds over a gallon of water. ALSO, as others have said, where the steam travels through the pipe dirt collects and is almost impossible to clean. My old one from the same brand didn't have this problem. ALSO USE it WITH a demineralization cartridge and change it every season. I use two in a tank. If you don't, you'll get white dust in your room and it won't breathe well. Cartridges work well when two are used. Overall I like it but it's NOT for medium sized rooms. This is a SMALL room humidifier. Even Consumer Reports didn't rate it that well for publication. The quality rating was very good, so I bought two of these for my room.
