December 30, 2018 My review: This 1/8" non-switching tube socket uses incandescent bulbs with a base known as an Edison base, a medium base and an E27 base. As if there weren't enough lamp types to add to the confusion! This trinomial lamp base is the most common of innumerable lamp types, making it a practical type choice for versatility in lamp selection. I appreciate LED bulbs which are cheap these days and no extra charge dimming is becoming the norm. This cartridge has no switch. Therefore, it should be turned off by the lamp, that is, table lamp; floor lamp etc. or from a wall switch. This cartridge is advantageous for use in a pendant lamp. The hanging cord features a plastic strain relief that attaches to standard 1/8-inch fully threaded tubing. The thread to which the removable brass ring is attached (first photo) has a larger diameter than the usual lampshade thread. type (second photo). Perhaps the thread size of this cartridge is suitable for large shades or shades. Inside the ceramic chuck are 2 electrical contact screws, one for aluminum threads and the other for brass, a central contact tab. I found that both screws were loose. All in all, this Chinese-made device is fine! I would rate it 5 stars if the lamp's screw threads were brass instead of aluminum. Especially in a humid environment, the aluminum threads often corrode with the aluminum threads of the lamp base, causing the common problem of a broken base getting stuck in the socket when attempting to change the lamp again (lamp replacement). The prevention of this problem is as follows. Apply a liberal amount of lithium or other grease to the base of the lamp, and then screw the lamp in place. The lube stays in the cartridge for multiple reloads.
