Great Portable Radio

I wanted a portable radio that could be used in natural or man-made emergencies when the power goes out and looked at several radios that can be turned up, use batteries or solar panels . charged and this is the one I chose. It comes with a rechargeable battery and slots for 3 "AA" batteries. I charged the internal battery and added 3 "AA" batteries and bought an AC adapter to charge this internal battery. Overall it looks good enough and the AM/FM radio reception seems good, no better or worse than my stereo. It has 2 shortwave bands, a weather band and AM/FM and uses an old fashioned high visibility slide rule tuning scale like old radios did in the 1960's and 1970's when I was younger. The only thing I like about the dial is that it's not backlit, so tuning the radio in very low light or at night will be a little tricky if you don't have a flashlight handy. A built-in light or flashlight barely illuminates the radio dial, so this may help some. It also comes with a bright built-in flashlight, has a decent built-in nylon/rubber carry handle, a retractable radio antenna, and some pretty chunky handles. It has a decent front speaker for pretty good sound. The speaker is about 4 inches. It's fairly easy to use, looks good, has decent AM/FM radio reception for local radio stations, and has cell phone charging sockets, a full-size USB port, and a headphone or headphone jack on the back. Mini headphone jack for private listening. I only gave it 4 stars because I found it odd that this radio did not come with a power adapter and had to be purchased separately. It's also a great little radio that will hopefully come in handy for emergencies or just use as a daily walkie-talkie at work or at home.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
