This is a very good radio for the price. Pros: Brings shortwave radio stations that other portable radios can't pick up, even with their short antenna. I compared the transmitter with the Grundig 350. AM-FM reception is good. A lightweight. Charging the handle (nice to have) is only possible in an emergency. See cons below. I wanted a portable radio that could be used in natural or man-made emergencies when the power goes out and looked at several radios that can be turned up, use batteries or solar panels . charged and this is the one I chose. It comes with a rechargeable battery and slots for 3 "AA" batteries. I charged the internal battery and added 3 "AA" batteries and bought an AC adapter to charge this internal battery. Overall it looks good enough and the AM/FM radio reception seems good, no better or worse
