4 stars for the quality of the material, 1 star for the durability because my particular appliance doesn't heat the stovetops, and 4 stars for how versatile the product appears to be . Box, the device was connected to the network, blinking green, and a bowl of pancake batter awaited Sunday's pre-Christmas breakfast. 15 minutes later the device is still iced up and the green lights are flashing. Oh does it have to be closed to get warm? My mistake. I close the device, green lights flash. My husband comes over to see if he can help and pulls the handle. Now all the lights are off. I squeeze the handle and the light comes on again. The top of the stainless steel unit is hot so I'm assuming the plates are hot. I open the device and place it on a flat surface, drop a few drops of water onto the plates and they sizzle. Perfect temperature right? I pour out the batter, excited to make enough pancakes for the whole family at once. I look at the dough - there are no bubbles. What is heh11? Heating off (again?). So now I put that thing on top of the pancakes with pancake batter on both sides and no heat. I scraped off the dough and put it back in the bowl. He pulled out a frying pan and cooked breakfast on the stove while cursing Griddler. I was so excited to get this, so excited to use it, but the design and finish leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe it's my block, maybe I'm not patient enough, but the bottom line is my block didn't heat up properly, if at all, and the item will be returned for a full refund.
