Our large GSD/Lab blending buffer needed a new strut longer than the current 25 feet. He loves to roam the backyard but will also wander into neighbors' yards on his own unless tied to something to keep him at home. Especially when he sees something he wants to chase, eat, sniff, dig, roll, scratch, bark or play with. His other tie didn't have a secure attachment clip like the one where you press the locking button to make the smaller stem retract into the handle. This one has a carabiner with a nut that is screwed on tightly so it can't come loose no matter what he does and no matter how hard he pulls. Our dog weighs just over 100# but he has never torn his tie even when tied to one meant for a 30# dog. The clamps eventually deteriorated and rusted, which is why they would not open or close. Also, they only come in short lengths. We had to order this thicker one to get the length we wanted and of course it's more expensive than a shorter tie for a smaller dog.
