Best value for money for a large 3D printer!

Review: This is a really great big 3D printer that is amazing value for money and could use some tweaking! $339 ($389 plus $50 coupon) that's a great value. The printer was well packaged, no damage and everything is there. It's almost completely disassembled so be careful if this is your first 3D printer. It's easy to assemble, just take your time and use the instructions and videos on the SD card that came with the printer and you'll be all set. This is my second 3D printer and I assembled everything in about 20 minutes. The details are well finished and of good quality. I had no bent parts, broken threads or anything like that. Everything fits together well, with two small exceptions listed below. I got up and started typing for 30 minutes. The original print quality of the orange PLA SD card bunny model I already had was very good. No stretch, almost no visible layer lines and really good performance on the lasts. I was impressed! The upgraded direct drive extruder version is very convenient and easy to load/unload filament. I haven't had any problems with extruder slippage/jump. I printed a very large photo vase using the rainbow PLA I had cut in Cura and it printed perfectly with no issues. And he's big! I've included a photo of the printer next to my existing Ender3 Pro (converted to a direct drive extruder) which should give you an idea of how much larger the build volume is on the Pyramid. However, with such a large size, the included triangular mounts do a good job of stabilizing the printer. The interface is simple and easy to use, and the touch screen is very convenient. The MKS Robin Nano 1.2 32-bit controller board works great, and the "quiet" TMC2208 x and y drivers (with non-silent stepper drivers for the z-axis and extruder) mean this thing is very, very quiet is. while printing. The only noises I hear are the fans and a small push/pull noise from the extruder. I have added an automatic level sensor to the BLTouch platform (see photo) - installation was easy and the ToAuto support team emailed me. Installation instructions and the appropriate firmware (although the firmware was already on the SD card that came with the printer). It all works as expected, eliminating the need for the somewhat tedious manual alignment that needs to be done before each print. What could be better: My printer comes with a green 3D printed filament runout sensor mount. What is good. But everything else is with a red accent. So I used the red piece of PLA that came with the printer to print the red one (the .stl file to attach is on the SD card). The left Z-axis limit switch mount that came with me was the same as the right rear mount. When installed as installed, it hit the corner of the X-axis linkage mount and therefore did not function properly. Luckily there are .stl models on the SD card for the upgraded Z limit switch mounts, so I printed one for the left side (white, see photos) and used it to mount the Z limit switch correctly. The glass plate that comes with the printer is fine, but the print adhesion isn't the best. I had to use quite a bit of glue stick before printing to get them to stick well. So I spent $15 on a Creality CR-10 textured glass bed - much better. The prints now adhere perfectly without glue. I will probably make a newer firmware version myself as the printer uses Marlin 1.x and Marlin 2.x is available for the Robin Nano 1.2 board in the printer. I kind of miss all the settings that you can do directly on the printer in Marlin 2.0 without having to edit configuration files or use the Pronterface to "talk" to the printer via a USB cable. But honestly, aside from trying out the new firmware, acquiring a Creality build platform, and adding a BLTouch, there's not much else to do with this already great printer. It's already been typing for 16 hours without batting an eyelid and is proving to be well built, durable, reliable and really fun! I have my eye on a full size Mandalorian helmet to print on this big guy soon. All in all this is a really good printer at a very good price. The folks at ToAuto were a pleasure to deal with, there were only a few very minor issues with the printer and the print quality on everything I printed was superb. I'm a happy customer.
