I tried another reviewer's test: I stood in the bathtub with water up to my ankles for about 10 minutes, completely covering my leg. Conclusion: There was very, very little moisture, but overall my feet were dry! I bought a small size. I'm a size 5.5 and 6.0 and they were a bit large for me but didn't bother me when trying them on with hiking boots.
