Before purchasing the HL2240 I read a number of reviews and was a bit concerned about some of the issues raised. I had never owned a laser printer (who knew you could buy a laser printer for $82?), so I was a bit concerned. But when the printer arrived, I plugged it in, my Mac instantly recognized it, found it and downloaded the software, and I was up and running in less than 10 minutes from opening the box. The print quality is excellent. The only problem I had was figuring out how to print an envelope. The instructions aren't so clear (or maybe I'm being stupid!) that you have to open the door on the back of the printer to get the envelope to go front to back instead of being fed in from the front and then pulled back out of the printer. Front like paper. I also had an issue with NeoOffice - it doesn't seem to format the envelope properly. But Mariner Write does, so I'm happy. I'm not a huge printer user like some reviewers, but if you only need a printer to print letters and documents, I don't see how you can go wrong with this device.
