Review on 🔧 Enhanced Mounting Solution – Definitive Technology VEPC Pro-Mount 90 (Black) – Pair by Andrew Griggs

UPDATE CHANGE 10/24/2014 They've been around for almost a year now. My initial complaint that they were barely enough to hold the DT 1000 needs updating. They hold 1000 in place. So in the end they work. My original complaint about stem twisting still stands. And to be safe, I had to TIGHTEN the set screw to the point where I was really, really scared I was going to break something. But they didn't break and in the end they survived. They are still very expensive for what they are. If there was an alternative to them, I would look for it. Unfortunately I didn't see many alternatives. So if you're against it, they will at least work in the end. Works great with the Definitive Technology Pro Monitor 800 monitors. But these B005BV0FHG also work great with the Pro Monitor 800. What I really wanted was my DT Pro Monitor 1000. And these mounts go almost beyond what they can handle. After lowering the clamp to the point of concern, I finally got the speaker to stay in place for over an hour. I worry that the speaker's vibrations will throw them out of place no matter how hard I press them. To make matters worse, the lug pivots about 3/16 of an inch left and right in the ball, making it almost impossible to keep it perfectly straight up and down. I ended up using two sets of these spikes. They work well with 800s. but they are too expensive when the published alternatives work just as well. The other set is smaller than my 1000. So in both cases these mounts are overpriced. And that is the reason for the 2 star rating. Unfortunately I haven't found a suitable replacement for the 1000s so looks like I'm stuck with them.
