Offers full manual control but pre-flash eliminates metering

Excellent, cost-effective alternative to other triggering systems with iTTL, HSS compatibility, 2nd curtain function and full control of external flashes. Doesn't work with fully manual flashes, so be sure to check compatibility. Note one thing: if you want to use the flash for full manual control, THIS WILL NOT SUIT YOU. The flash must remain in iTTL mode even when the transmitter is in manual mode. You can still manually control connected flashes (power, zoom, etc.) but they will pre-flash with TTL as expected. This makes measurement impossible as your meter reads the pre-flash. The only way to eliminate pre-flash is to make adjustments on the flash in manual mode, not on the transmitter, eliminating the convenience of full control of the camera. Choosing an exposure in 0.1, 0.3, or 0.5 stop increments is a trial and error process, but still very useful. You can also set exposure compensation from -3 to +3 EV in TTL mode. The modeling flash also works, but ONLY if your camera has a depth of field preview. in your flashes - take a picture and manually adjust the exposure until it's just right, or let your camera make decisions using TTL in shutter or aperture priority mode. Otherwise, this is an excellent device with multiple layers of control. Just ignore the impossibility of metering and accept it for what it is - a reliable wireless triggering system that allows full manual control of external flashes.
