I placed this LED strip behind my desk to serve as an accent light. I didn't have to cut the LED strip to length, so I can't comment on that experience. I used the supplied tape to attach the LED strip to the tabletop which worked well. A lot of cables are left to find a place for the controller and the USB power cable. However, the USB power cable is significantly shorter (20 inches) than the cable that connects the controller to the LED strip (30 inches). This isn't a problem other than the fact that both cables come out the same place on the controller itself and therefore the controller's position is limited by the length of the USB cable, not necessarily the length of the cable connecting the controller. on a real LED strip. This is a small issue and really needs to be considered when routing cables and placing the LED strip. The actual LEDs are bright but not obtrusive, and color rendition is accurate except for white, which of course is turned off as it's not an RGB W LED strip. The included music mode works very well and is a handy feature. In summary, this is a very good product, especially considering the price, and works well as accent lighting in almost any room.
