There is no GREAT warning to tell customers that glass is CHM. The seller must include at least one MAJOR warning so buyers (ie those with young children) can choose not to buy - and/or handle the item appropriately (and allow Amazon representatives to properly package the item). Quite surprised that the seller/manufacturer has not yet addressed this potential liability issue. When I received the product with the glass broken I immediately called Amazon and received a full credit. This item has been known to have glass breakage issues for +/- 5 years (and counting). How is that possible - especially after +/- 5 years? Someone (or several) really got it wrong. HOW EASY, QUICK AND CHEAP TO MAKE YOUR OWN UNBREAKABLE FOREVER FILTER (that actually works FOREVER): 1. If/when the glass of the Forever filter breaks, discard the plastic top and bottom.2. Go to the plumbing department of your local home center and (only +/- $1.24 including tax) find a 1 1/4" white plastic pipe. NOTE. The pipe will likely be longer than the filter needs. 3. Measure simply 2 and 3/4", mark the tube and use a hacksaw and/or sharp universal tool and/or other knife to slowly/cleanly* cut the soft white plastic tube to the correct filter length. * Soft white tube is VERY easy to cut with a hacksaw.4. Edges may be rough - just smooth/round with sandpaper and/or scrape with the back of a knife.5. Rinse the 2" and 3/4" long 1" and 1/4" diameter plastic tubes and Forever filter tips under warm or hot water (just before you connect them) and they fit together perfectly. That's all - done. You now have a real FOREVER filter. ps A): Those who use the plastico The top and bottom of the Forever glass filter can channel their own "inner MacGyver" (get creative) by bringing small pieces of stainless steel mesh home to your center &/or hardware store to make more efficient, custom-sized permanent end screens for to build filters. Contact a home center and/or hardware store representative for assistance in locating possible plastic filter tube end fittings (caps) with holes in which to insert the filter. mesh parts ss. Or maybe you can find/use the end cap of an empty plastic spice shaker etc. PS B): Try carefully cutting off the top of the plastic disposable filter with a hacksaw or utility knife - to see if you can just throw away the charcoal and refill it with fresh charcoal. If so, then: 1. Attach a short piece of stainless steel wire, fishing line, or rope to the bottom screen of a disposable plastic filter and run it through the filter, cutting it +/- 2 inches longer than the filter.2. Fill the disposable filter with fresh activated carbon.3. Reattach the cut top of the disposable filter by threading a wire, string or string through the top plastic mesh (you may need to pass it through the mesh twice to keep the top filter from loosening).4. Attach the tip as follows: A) Either bend the wire or tie a rope to the plastic handle, or even better: B) Attach the wire, string or rope firmly to a small stainless steel screw that screws in easily and let it turn out. Top plastic grids every time you want to replace the charcoal. **Use the same method (with stainless steel screw) to attach wire, twine, or twine to the bottom screen. It may seem a bit much, but it's a lot easier than described MUCH cheaper than (repeatedly) paying too much for disposable and/or fragile filters. Bought a 100 ounce container of charcoal pellets** through Amazon. Best deal and should last a lifetime.** Pellets are MUCH better than regular charcoal for a number of reasons: A) water allows water to flow through larger pellets better, B) they are much easier to flush before first use, and C) larger ones Pellets do not clog the filter mesh by getting stuck in the holes.TTFN
