I wanted my home office to match my work so I needed two monitors. I needed to extend my monitor, not duplicate it. My computer only had one VGA monitor connector, but I noticed an unusual connector with 24 "holes" and one line-shaped "hole". I found out that it is a DVI-D connector. My second monitor only had a male VGA cable. After first ordering the WRONG converter (DVI, not DVI-D) and spending almost the same amount shipping it back, I bought this converter, plugged it in and it works great!
