Review on Enhanced Extech 45170 Environmental Meter: Hygro Thermo Anemometer Light by Chris Moody

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor airflow accuracy at many speeds

Overview: Extech 45170 Hygro-Anemometer Light Meter A really impressive set of features for the price. You can't expect high accuracy with so many features in this price range. However, according to the manufacturer (and verified by the manufacturer), airflow accuracy is so poor at many speeds that you might consider other Extech meters instead. . Since there are many meters out there that measure other parameters, one would expect that someone buying this meter would actually be interested in measuring airflow. According to the manufacturer, the accuracy is given as a percentage of the upper range limit and not of the displayed value. Thus, the claimed accuracy is +/- 177 fpm (5910 x 3%). Since 3% of the displayed value is the minimum expected from decent, low-end certified models these days, this device degrades at reading speeds below about 60 mph.ft/m.5910 3% (67.0 mph) Accuracy 2950 6% (33.5mph) 1475 9% (16.8mph). etc. If anyone at Extech thinks this review by others at Extech is wrong, please let them know in the comments: I don't want this product to get an unfair review.
