I love these pencils. I've been painting for about a year now and I still have a lot to learn. These pens are very pretty. They lay down smooth, layered and blended well - at least from my inexperienced use. I like big colored kernels. It's one of the things I look at when considering a purchase. There is no color name or number on the barrel. It still remains a mystery to me. It probably isn't that hard to turn on. Maybe fewer words on the outside saves money so the pencil is better overall. I don't mind the box they come in. I like to put the pens in the pencil case in a certain order. They are a particularly great gift. I would definitely buy again.
