Keeps floor dry under pet fountain

We have a very messy drinker and he creates puddles on the kitchen floor every time he drinks from the pet fountain. The standard mat we had underneath didn’t really help. I was looking for something sturdy enough to work for a dog bowl but actually absorbent. The material of this mat intrigued me as I’d not heard of it. I would liken it to ceramic absorbent coasters. It does feel like stone and is stiff yet low profile. The amount it absorbs is impressive. I like that you can simply sand off stains. It’s not cold to the touch like stone might be but it doesn’t have give so it’s not terribly comfortable to stand on but stepping out of the shower would be fine. I’m not a fan of the words but the dish covers it up and it might sand off as well. The grey color seems dispersed throughout so the marbling should hold up to sanding. I am not sure the mat would be slip safe if water got under it. But the other reviews say there were items in the foam so I guess I threw that out!Though it seemed a bit expensive to me at first, it is competitively priced when compared with other earth mats sold online. Recommend! My only wish is that it were a little larger so I didn’t have to keep the other mat underneath.
