Neat little device that works

After looking through the many DACs available to me on Amazon and eBay I found this one. I'm pretty sure 99% of the $5 models are made by the same assembly company and then tagged by one of the many 'brands' that 'exist'. It was this one that caught my attention with its unique design, a box with rounded edges and a non-Chinese logo, which is very different from the normal box, and an incomprehensible Chinese logo, and the other has a volume knob, bought both, both worked perfectly. I'm glad I bought both due to my impending dilemma so stay tuned. After connecting the pictured above to the TV at my parents house which didn't have a normal AUX output (very annoying and the reason I bought this one) I found that the volume of the optical output is not controlled by the TV Being, it had a fixed output and brought my mini home theater system to full power and it was at that point that I first experienced the full potential of this small system, deafening highs and chest-piercing lows that couldn't be muted or muted. Luckily I bought the one with the volume control too, why not? Unfortunately for that I would have to drive all the way to my house and back to my parents house which was only 10 minutes round trip but still. So I made the swap when it was convenient later in life. Finally the time has come, my brother wanted to come in, so I brought the version with the volume control, plugged it in, and now everyone is happy. , although no one asked for it, now it's here and will most likely see a very long future, collecting dust and forgetting until the very last minute of the show they watched. What a great time to be living in the 21st century. I will keep the fixed volume version for future use, maybe a stereo with its own volume control. The sound quality from these little devices was fantastic, no crackling or buzzing. I think the rounded box plays a big part in how the device works as this is the part that contains the processor. I think the processor is doing its job too, can't expect a rounded edge box to do all the work.
