I use these mittens when I'm baking bread. I heat an enameled cast iron skillet to nearly 500 degrees Fahrenheit and bake bread in it. First you need to put the pot in the oven to heat it up, then take it out and put the bread dough in it. Cover with a hot lid and place back in the oven. Then you need to half remove the cover. When the bread is done, you should remove the entire very hot pan from the oven and place it on the stove. Sometimes the bread sticks and you have to really pull on it to get it out. All these actions are dangerous when dealing with an oven and a pot heated to 500 degrees! These mittens never stick to the pan or bread, I never feel warm, they protect my forearms which is important because they can burn you. They work great.
