Review on ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD: Frameless 4K Monitor with DisplayPort, Blue Light Filter, Built-In Speakers & Anti-Glare Coating by Jim Mascho

Don't buy the best in my rating

This is a review of a 27 inch 4k monitor. - The picture quality in 4k resolution is normal. - The upscaler in this monitor is terrible. Don't buy it if you ever need to feed a signal below 4k, including 1080p. At 1920 x 1080, the text is so blurry it's impossible to see it. Windows 10 does not recognize this monitor as HDR and does not send an HDR signal to it. I bought this monitor for my father who is interested in photography as he takes photos at resolutions over 4k. Resolution for some time and I haven't had a chance to see them in 4k. We needed something small for the original workspace, so 27 inches seemed right. I wanted to show him how good HDR looks and this monitor claimed to be one of the few HDR monitors on the market. ViewSonic is the brand we have trusted for CRT monitors for over 20 years. I knew his computer wasn't powerful enough to play 4k, but I figured we could use it at 1080p until we updated it. However, this monitor looks so bad at sub-4k resolutions that it's completely unusable. As a result, we had to immediately upgrade the computer. The picture quality in 4k is okay. A few months later we bought a small Vizio 4k TV for a fraction of the price of this monitor and not only is it packed with features but it has great picture quality and is capable of displaying 1080p and HDR signals. We used the same cable and PC, so I know it's the monitor not being able to display it. If you really don't need a 4ms response time then don't worry about that or monitors in general.

Pros
  • INCLUDED: LCD monitor, power cord, HDMI cable.
Cons
  • Bad ergonomics
