Review on Jason Styling Gel: Flaxseed Hi Shine, 6 Oz - Achieve Brilliant Hair by Amy Maeva

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No more allergic dermatitis. Strong hold gel for several hours. Very impressive!

All my allergies seem to get worse with age. I always use the same gels from Kenra (17 firm) and Paul Mitchell (red for strong hold and purple for extra body). But I get patches of blisters around my eyes that don't usually appear when I don't use gel. So I decided to try something with fewer chemicals. It has been suggested that triethanolamine, found in all three gels above, is the culprit. This is not included in Jason's product. I'm no chemist, but Jason's most active ingredient appears to be methacryloylethyl betaine/acrylate copolymer, which is listed as a 'hair fixative' with low/no toxicity and no allergies (you can google it and it will turn up in many cosmetics databases), unlike triethanolamine which is just a pH adjuster but can cause allergic reactions. Since using this gel I have not had any problems with dermatitis for 1 month. The gel works very well, especially considering its extremely affordable price and natural formula. My hair type is medium to fine, thick and chemically straightened (barely - we leave it on for 5 minutes to make styling easier). The gel is sticky like Sebastian Gel Forte, that's the only downside - but oh well. I'm just washing my hands anyway. It controls frizz well. Holds tighter than Paul Mitchell (red bottle) and Kenra-17. It may be too strong for some people, but it depends on your hair type and preferences. Smells can really bother me sometimes (my stylist once used a lipstick on me that required a shower, pillow wash, and wash). to get rid of my nose). This situation was unusual, but you get an idea of how much I hate certain smells. Jason is not like that at all. It's pretty neutral. It has a fruity and slightly floral scent. Almost grape? It's so hard to explain, but for me it's soft. It's worth a try, especially considering the low price.
