My customer wanted his fan to run at normal speed in summer and low speed in winter to disperse warm air. This unique control suited his needs perfectly, with a separate screwdriver control for setting the minimum speed. You can see this tiny knob at the seven o'clock position just past the rim of the main knob. Without this feature, you'd have to look carefully for the low speed setting when you need it with the large control knob. This preset low speed feature is also handy for controlling an extractor fan in a bathroom (or kitchen) to keep the extractor fan running consistently and quietly, without the usual annoying rumble these fans can produce. Rated at 5 amps, this controller controls both small and large fans, even multiple fans at the same time. All this flexibility comes at a very reasonable price (as of late 2018) of around fifteen dollars. Well done Leviton!
