Review on 🧵 The Beadsmith No-Tangle Thread Bobbins: Efficient String Organizer for Optimal Kumihimo or Cord Management (1 7/8 Inches, Set of 8) by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for Kumihimo weaving

These small disks are made of flexible plastic. You open them up and wrap them around your crocheted cotton, then turn the curved side inside out and it will hold the threads while you work with them and keep all your dangling bobbins from getting tangled together. It's easy to pull out a little more length, and you generally don't unwrap and fall to the ground. I don't use them that much anymore because I'm in a medieval remnant group and they're very malleable, but if that's not a problem they work fine. Kumihimo, with yards of pre-wrapped fiber, is one of the few crafts you can do on a flat surface that doesn't require sharp objects. Not 5 stars because they don't hold #5 crochet cotton well. They're great for Sinfonia or any other knitted cotton, and probably thicker crocheted cotton. Haven't tried them with other fibers. Flax (linen) or smooth wool should work well. The kumihimo foam pad erases silk so much that it is not recommended. The Japanese used maru-dai (smooth wood kumihimo disk with legs) for silk, and these spools were not heavy enough to balance the counterweights.
