No memory for settings! It may be more important to you than you think, if you have never decorated.

I guess I should have read the reviews, I usually do. But was in a hurry. Great bright green lights. BUT, if you want a particular setting, you have to run out and manually set them each time they are turned on. Hopefully you found out about this before putting it along a roof-line. lol I had a particular setting that I wanted for the display I had up, but now it's mostly grand mal seizure creating effects. Also, everyone keeps stating that this is "old school". Or must be old technology. Nope! This is something new they are doing. I ran into this once before, which is why I am particularly embarrassed about falling for it again. Only on the previous strand, they were icicle lights meant to go along the roof! So they actually thought that it made sense for you to climb up a ladder each night to set them. I believe they learned their lesson. Anyway, being able to set your strand settings and have them be remembered has been basic for at least around 30 years. You just turned the dial to whatever number matched the setting on the list printed next to it. I still have one rope tree left from over 20 years ago that is still working, and has the option to choose the settings. This button on the end with no memory, is something relatively new. I guess they figured it would be more "cool", or modern, to have a button on the end, than some old-school dial. But they work and rarely break. So I'll take old-school any day over something they added, just because it was new. Don't they ever test these things out before selling? I guess someone made a crap-ton of these, and companies had to use them, or got a great deal on it. I'm still deciding on whether to send back or not.Now if none of that matters, then go for it. But the settings are a pretty big deal for people that decorate for holidays and need to plan things out.
