Simple and does what it's supposed to.
Does its job well. Copper wool cleans the tip of the soldering iron well and removes sticking residue, especially when desoldering. Likewise. Lead solder melts more easily and is less likely to damage printed circuit boards, particularly boards previously made with lead solder.
