This worked great on my Alienware 17.3 inch laptop. It's strong, supportive (jumps a bit but that's to be expected), secure clip for my desk (oval would be better than round as it takes up more space under the desk). I think a small drawer or attached hooks would be a good addition to house the hubs attached for "carrying" the laptop, otherwise you'll need extension cords if you plan on pulling the laptop too far. The plastic removal screws in the bracket were a little fiddly but did the job - they don't hold all the cables but some, I fixed the excess under the tray. That's a great deal as the Ergotrons are a lot more expensive at almost half the price this has turned out to be a great device! no idea where it goes ---- Also the bar came loose itself so I had to remove the clamp members, remove the rubber grip, remove the 3 screws holding it to the plate and the ONE screw holding the, re-tighten post in place. Because it was somehow loosening, everything started to shift obliquely and my laptop was moving like it was on a small hill - it seemed like a pole the whole time. But now I really need to know where the part attached in the pictures goes. It can't get into the plastic case or the first part of the lock (closest to the base). I KEEP THIS 4 STAR RATING, but I would suggest regularly checking any tension holding your expensive laptop in place. It wasn't a key piece for support, it was a piece for forearm cable hiding. I'm giving it 4 stars because the cable pockets aren't big and roomy enough to hold even slightly thinner cables. it's ok for that. There must also be a rotation lock to keep your laptop from crawling left or right. I know that the monitor must have a locking screw for this purpose, which must also apply to the laptop holder. For the price, however, this is a good device - just make sure everything is secure, especially the bar itself.
