I ordered three unpadded stools from "Tribal Art" to add a mobile ottoman design. Since they come without padding, I filled them with a mixture of hard foam, soft pillow stuffing, old clothes, and plastic air bubbles. The fabric has no rigidity, so rigid foam rubber (or folded clothes) is simply necessary to get the right shape. I stuffed them first but my husband said they needed more stuffing as his legs gave way when he relaxed off the couch. I filled them two more times with the original filling. The stools were listed as 20x20x20 and I found them larger than 17x17x17. I don't know why there is a three inch discrepancy so I'm deducting a star for false advertising. However, they were still big enough for my sofa and went well with the rest of the living room! Bunny has even agreed! The fabric is quite thick with a black print which I think will hold up to the wash. I actually tumble dried them for 30 minutes upon receipt and the print hasn't melted. You should note that the bottom has a thinner fabric. The pouf should lie on it and not attract attention. The zipper is durable. Personally, I don't think they will work as chairs with rigid foam either. It is possible for the bottom fabric to rip if packed too tightly when they have to sit down. Choose your own adventure there.
