The wick burns so fast it's almost pointless as you light the lighter and now light the wick for each individual light or you leave the wick burn and 1/4 of it they disappear in one short session. The wick must also be clearly exposed, otherwise it will simply smolder. So if you try to light it sparingly you will end up firing the lighter 4 or 5 times before you realize you need about half an inch + open wick. A kind of defeat against the goal of "saving" natural gas. That's a great idea, but there are others that are much cheaper. It's just plain plastic screwed to a wick that burns so damn fast I don't see any real purpose for it unless you're trying to light some gas or some people need light for a few seconds with it you miss it. But most of the time you will launch it once and it will work fine for a while. So you light the lighter. then light the wick, then put it out for only 1 light. For intended use (wink) it doesn't seem to save much butane unless you're lighting a prodigious amount of something and need to keep the fuse on. it is for a few seconds. But 90% of the time, a quick swipe is all it takes and the case is adequately covered. I do not know. Loved this and will probably use it but with different brands of wick until I find a slow burning one. I don't see the "hours" of flames from how quickly everything burns out.
