Pros: Attractive, Affordable, Fairly Light Cons: Confusing Instructions, Fairly Light Weight My cat loves this tower. I agree the instructions leave a lot to be desired, but we had no trouble building. The instructions basically consist of ONE picture with numbers and letters pointing to different dots to show which pieces go where and at what stage (similar to the instructions for a fake Christmas tree). Make sure you have a tape measure with you when assembling as all parts are marked with a small picture and their length in millimeters. I would have liked paint markings or embossed letters on the ends of the posts or on the studs, but that wasn't too bad either. The tree itself is very beautiful and I like its colors. It looks way cooler than the blah-beige scratching posts I've seen at Petco. It took my cat a while to get used to the tree (maybe it smelled funny?) but now she enjoys climbing the different tiers of the tree, banging on the two dangling toys, scratching the posts and ramp and sleeping in the smaller cubby near the top. The construction seems pretty solid and has minimal impact when I tug on it. My cat is now 5-6 pounds and has no trouble reaching or climbing any section of the tree. The smaller "tubular" compartment will eventually become too small for him, but he likes it for now. I agree with the other reviewer that while it's easy for cats to climb to the upper floors of a cat apartment, they tend to jump straight off platform 3 onto the floor instead of climbing back down the apartment. We solved this problem by putting a chair next to the tree for our cat to jump onto from the 3rd platform so she doesn't have to jump all the way down. I usually hate faux fur, but black faux fur feels very soft on this tree, with a fine texture and pleasant to the touch. It's not very shaggy and doesn't have a deep pile like a carpet (I'd say no more than 1/4 inch pile), but it tends to keep colored lint off toys, carpets, and cats. Regular dusting does a good job of removing accumulated lint from this tree and I believe a lint roller would be effective as well. This tower weighs around 70 pounds, which seems lighter than some of the other scratching posts. saw. I have no problem with it as it takes less effort. The underside is also covered in the same black fur, allowing you to easily slide over hardwood or veneer without sustaining damage. Again, this may or may not be a scam depending on your cats and your home.
