Review on AMD FX-8320E FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor by Stanislaw Pietka ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expectations were not met, average quality.

The review concerns the FX-8320 Vishera, which operates in the default mode - it replaced the Intel processor (C2D E6770 nominal, although it worked quietly at a frequency of 8X400 MHz) after more than six years of operation. In W7 (all 8 cores are evenly loaded), the time for creating a . zip document archive with the 64-bit version of the 7zip archiver was exactly 2 times reduced - from 410 s to 205 s, which corresponds to the nominal Q8400 quad. I would like the % load, when using one application, to be more than 16% (the same Intel cores can be loaded by 90+% during archiving).

Pros
  • Efficient multitasking when combined with an SSD drive; moderate price; the ability to use a multi-socket cooler when the plastic elements that provide fastening to Intel sockets crumble from old age.
Cons
  • if there are not many tasks, then the workload of logical processors is low.
